Toy Fair Megatrends In 2022: Toys Go Green

Sustainability is becoming more and more important all over the world. The Trend Committee, the international trend committee at the Nuremberg Toy Fair, also focuses on this development concept.To underscore the enormous importance of this concept to the toy industry, the 13 committee members have focused their 2022 focus on this theme: Toys go Green. Together with experts, the team of the world’s most important Nuremberg Toy Fair has defined four product categories as megatrends: “Made by Nature (toys made of natural materials)”, “Inspired by Nature (made of bio-based plastics)” products)”, “Recycle & Create” and ”Discover Sustainability (toys that spread environmental awareness)”. From February 2 to 6, 2022, the Toys Go Green exhibition with the same name as the theme was be held. Mainly focus on the above four product categories

Inspired by Nature: The future of plastics

The “Inspired by Nature” section also deals with renewable raw materials. The production of plastics mainly comes from fossil resources such as oil, coal or natural gas. And this product category proves that plastics can also be produced in other ways. It showcases toys made from environmentally friendly bio-based plastics.

Recycle & Create: Recycle old to new

Sustainably manufactured products are the focus of the “Recycle & Create” category. On the one hand, it showcases toys made from recycled materials; on the other, it also focuses on the idea of making new toys through up-cycling.

Made by Nature: Bamboo, cork and more.

Wooden toys such as building blocks or sorting toys have long been an integral part of many children’s rooms. The “Made by Nature” product category clearly shows that toys can also be made from many other natural materials. There are many kinds of raw materials from nature, such as corn, rubber(TPR), bamboo, wool and cork.

Discover Sustainability: Learn by Playing

Toys help teach complex knowledge to children in a simple and visual way. The focus of “Discover Sustainability” is on these types of products. Teach children about environmental awareness through fun toys that explain topics like the environment and climate.
