Rubber ducks are duck-shaped toys made of rubber or vinyl, first created in the late 1800s, when people had just mastered the technology of plasticizing rubber.
Fun Facts
The Duck Fleet took place in 1992. A toy factory's cargo ship set out from China with the intention of crossing the Pacific Ocean to the port of Tacoma, Washington, USA. But the cargo ship encountered a violent storm in the ocean near the International Date Line, and a container full of 29,000 yellow plastic toy ducks plunged into the ocean, leaving all the toy ducks floating on the surface, where they have since drifted with the waves. In the first three years, one batch of 19,000 ducks completed a total length of 11,000 kilometers of Pacific subtropical circulation drift, passing through Indonesia, Australia, South America and Hawaii and other places along the ocean surface, an average of 11 kilometers per day.
These toy ducks have become not only the best samples for marine scientific research, but also the favorites of many collectors.
